We're looking for dedicated reviewers.
Do your reviewers get paid?
We pay in the best kind of currency for a booklover: free books! You get to keep your review copies; you could trade them with a friend or donate them. (In short, our reviewers are not paid in cash.)
Do I have to review books I don’t like?
We’ll try to honor your requests for books in a certain subgenre. If you like paranormal romance or Chick Lit, for example, we’ll try to send you some of those releases. We do ask our reviewers to stick with a book once they start reading it, even if they don’t care for it. We don’t just publish “happy” reviews at TRR, we give honest assessments of our reading experiences - even if they aren’t positive.
What kinds of books do you need reviewers for right now?
At the moment, we’re looking for reviewers for paranormal, erotic and category romance in particular, but we can sometimes offer reviewers some other books with those. Our sister site, The Mystery Reader,
is also looking for reviewers who love reading mysteries.
How many books do I have to review each month?
We ask our reviewers to review at least three books each month. Readers like to get to know our reviewers’ individual styles, and fewer reviews than that doesn’t allow for our readers to become familiar with a reviewer.
Do I have to use my real name?
Many of our reviewers do, though some use a pseudonym. It’s up to you.
I’m interested! How do I get started?
First, we encourage you to read a number of reviews on our site, both positive and negative, to get a feel for length, tone, and balance of plot/analysis. Generally, our reviews are about half plot description and half analysis, and run from 500-750 words.
Once you’ve gotten a feel for our site, send us two sample reviews: one for a book you liked and one for a book you didn’t care for. If we feel you can work with us, we’ll partner you up with a mentor reviewer for a while until you feel comfortable with your own style. Still interested? E-mail us your reviews here
