Harlequin announces line changes:
Harlequin is planning major changes to their romance series
imprints. Flipside is on its way out and will be dropped as of summer,
2005. Harlequin Historicals and Harlequin Temptations will only be sold
via mail-order subscription, not in retail stores, but will be available
internationally. Silhouette Intimate Moments will drop from six books a
month to four. Harlequin Blaze will jump from four books a month to
six. Harlequin is also planning a new erotica line and a line of "hen lit"
books, featuring heroines in the 30+ age bracket. The traditional lines of
Silhouette Romance, Harlequin Presents, Harlequin Superromance, Silhouette
Desire and Silhouette Special Edition will be unchanged. The Harlequin
American line will be "repositioned", although details are not available.
Harlequin is also launching a new imprint this month, HQN Books. These
will be single-title romance and romantic suspense. See the next entry for
an author's note.
