Dede, like many long-time romance readers, dates her romance reading from the
day she discovered The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss.
She has always worked around books -- for years she worked at a busy bookstore
in Denver, Colorado. Now she works at a large public library. So if she's not at home reading
or glued to her computer, you can bet she's at work, checking out all the latest books.
Her family keeps her busy, too. Dede's husband is an attorney for the federal
government and they have four children (three boys and a girl).
Her kids have a wide variety of interests from music to athletics -- ranging
from playing bass guitar in a Ska band (that makes money -- sometimes!), to Ivy League All American fencers in foil and
epee, to playing golf on the high school golf team. Her daughter is a student at Yale
University, so their phone bills are huge! (Thank goodness for e-mail!)
Some of her current favorite romance authors are Susan Elizabeth Phillips,
Catherine Anderson, Mary Jo Putney, Loretta Chase, Linda Howard and
Jennifer Crusie. When she overdoses on romance, she reads Patricia
Cornwell, Michael Connolly, John Sandford, Stephen Hunter and James Patterson.
When she starts worrying about serial killers in her neighborhood, she
switches back to romance.
When she has time, she likes to do counted cross-stitch.
When she's not reading, Dede's other passion is the COLORADO ROCKIES baseball team.
